How about “Manila John” Basilone – Marine Hero of Raritan NJ who was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for bravery in Guadalcanal and then returned to fight with his Marines and died at Iwo Jima where he rendered service that earned him a posthumous Navy Cross and the Purple Heart. He is the only US Marine to have ever received these military awards.
But NJ Army National Guard SSG Frank Carvill, SGT Humberto Timoteo, or Green Beret Army Staff Sergeant Andrew Lobosco, among hundreds of others, are also more worthy than a politician.
